GOONSWARM DECLARES WAR ON PANDEMIC HORDE

A few weeks back when i decided to write an Industry blog for EveGuru, I had heard mutterings around the Eve Community that something was coming, something big that would not only shakeup but redefine the Eve Market…. A WAR. As of 29th May 2025 Goonswarm released a video outlining their intentions to goto war with Horde and burn areas of Null Sec in order to purge the Horde renting program.
Now I am not going to get political but I will tell you that I am a Renter and I do live in Horde Space. I chose to do this a few months back after leaving Anoikis (Wormhole Space) to join some friends and get back to playing Eve with people I get along with and shared similar interests and goals. I didn’t want to get into SOV infrastructure bashing (I couldn’t think of anything more boring) and a certainly didn’t want to get into time dilation fighting, but as it pans out, this decision may come back to haunt me.
Last night as I digested the news, my first thought was “I’ve just set all my industry up, spent a billion ISK, how am I going to get it all safe”, but as i woke up this morning I’ve come to realise this as an opportunity to not only learn the industrial side of Eve Online but to build stuff for a purpose. Now I had said that id heard rumours of something happening, I took this information onboard and decided to look at fleet doctrines, skirmish ships and regular ships that were being lost on ZKillboard. They all had something in common. Weapon Upgrades, Stasis Webifiers, Warp Scramblers, Warp Disruptors and Damage Controls, So i laid out my plans and researched as many BPO’s as i could across various characters to enable myself to not only build T1 versions but research T2 blueprints. Reading multiple articles, speaking with seasoned industrialists and EveGuru experts i managed to not only acquire the materials i needed to make T2 modules but spend every single ISK i had. By utilising EveGuru i had managed to work out that I could make a little profit on certain items, buying materials from both my Corp and the main Horde Market, turn them around and produce T2 modules that would sell on the Market.

Now this may seem really simple to some people, but this was a few big steps in a short space of time for someone that hadn’t actually done this before. I had so many worries, what if my hauler gets blown up and i lose all my ISK, what if the stuff im building doesn’t sell, what if the stuff im making is wrong and im actually losing ISK. Alas I put my faith in EveGuru and bundled ahead.
Not only have i made a profit which has intern allowed me to invest in more materials, but for the last 4 days my industry tab has been running none stop across all slots. I find myself logging in, updating my orders and jobs and then actually playing Eve with my friends.
I still find it difficult logging in a seeing my ISK balance below 200m all the time but I am starting to come to terms with the fact that ISK in the wallet isn’t working ISK. Even now as im writing this im seeing 200m and thinking that could be used to buy more materials. I think i may have a problem or maybe I am just feeling what all industrialists have felt when they first started out, either way I am hooked.
